SH Group is a jazz quintet based in Brussels, Belgium. The group focuses on creating beautiful, simple music that draws inspiration from various genres such as rock, jazz, and pop. The band emphasizes the vibrancy of the sounds and the energy they project during their performances. Their goal is to foster a sense of openness, sharing, and community, free from intellectualism or rigid traditions. The SH Group consists of a group of friends who are passionate about music.

In the spring of 2019, the SH Group had the opportunity to showcase its talents by opening for the Pierre Durand “Roots” Quartet during a regional tour in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France. Since then, the group has been performing regularly in France, Belgium, and beyond.

Their first recording, the “SH Group EP,” was released on March 12, 2020. The SH Group features Vlad Tolordava on trumpet, Jonas Le Roy on saxophone, Matteo Di Leonardo on guitar, Niklas von Werne on drums, and Sébastien Hugue on double bass, who also composes the music.

The group recorded an album in April 2024 with Pierre-Antoine Savoyat on trumpet and the Iguaran String Quartet. The album was released on February 20, 2026.

The goal of this album, titled “Playing for Change,” is to convey Sébastien’s outlook on life and his values through music: his commitment to not backing down in the face of difficult days, and it highlights emotionally charged memories through from a poetic perspective.

Born from a desire for artistic growth and affirmation, this seven-track record explores emotions and life moments that leave a lasting mark. Balancing embraced vulnerability with a sense of playfulness, SH Group brings a vivid poetic touch to a style sometimes seen as overly technical, revealing its deeply human core. 

Thanks to this album, the group recently participated in the Brussel Jazz Vanguard showcase in May 2026, and one of their tracks will be included on the double vinyl album to be released soon.
